Azoro and Bar Peter Awa who was gruesome gunned down in Okija few days ago which has culminated to the ongoing boycotts of courts in the state by entire lawyers in the state, Bar. Chikezie lamented that it baffles him as to why lawyers who are supposed to be defendants of the defenseless and oppressed in the temple of justice are now target of attacks by people who they are protecting their interest and called on the Anambra State government to rise up to the occasion and do the needful by urgently protect lawyers so that it won’t negatively affect legal process in the state.

Bar. Chikezie who was visibly pained by this development while decrying the abduction and killing as unfortunate and barbaric stated that it is high time the Anambra State government handle the situation with uppermost importance it deserves.

Said he, “Anambra State government must as a matter of Priority urgently come to the rescue of Lawyers in order not to jeopardize legal process in the state, right now lawyers in the state are afraid of their safety because they don’t know who it will be his or her turn next, courts in the state are not currently sitting because lawyers are boycotting them because of fear of insecurity of their lives”.
