The operatives of Anti kidnap squad of Anambra State Police Command have smashed yet another kidnap gang in Nnewichi.
In a statement which was signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga and made available to newsmen, he stated that the anti kidnap squad was on patrol yesterday with vigilante men and got information about the kidnappers hideout and stormed the place.
According to Ikenga, a kidnapped victim found in the hideout was rescued and conveyed to a Hospital at Nnewi for treatment.
He equally made known that the suspected kidnappers was arrested while one pump action Gun and two locally fabricated hand grenades at the hideout was recovered by the operatives.
” The Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye while commending Police operatives and the local vigilante on this collaboration that has been effective against criminal elements told them to sustain the onslaught until crime is reduced to the barest minimum and people can move around in safety” said Ikenga.
