Ezeife’s burial: He was true Igbo son who fought for united Nigeria – Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, weekend lamented the demise of former governor of Anambra State, late Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, describing him as true Igbo son who fought for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
Tinubu who was Imo Stateably represented by the Governor of , Senator Hope Uzodinma at the funeral ceremony of Ezeife, held at Igboukwu, his country home, Aguata Local Government Area, said Ezeife died at the time Nigerians needed his developmental ideas most.
He praised the “towering influence of the former Federal permanent secretary as well as his leadership credentials’ in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“While praying for the repose of the soul of the dearly departed, the President encourages his loved ones to take solace in his indelible legacy.”
Recall that Ezeife was elected governor of Anambra on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Nigeria’s third republic, in 1992.
He served as governor until Sani Abacha, ex-military ruler, seized the reins of power at the centre and dissolved all civilian institutions in 1993.
Among those that paid tribute included, Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, Senators Chris Ngige, Victor Umeh, Ben Ndi-Obi, Uche Ekwuenife, traditional rulers, among others.
