The incident which was contained in a trending video on social media, with a masculine voiceover that accompanied it, said that the victim was arrested by some police officers who came into the market and seized some goods from the traders in the market.

It was further alleged that, after the arrest, while the police officers were speeding off out of the market in their vehicle with the seized goods, the victim who was handcuffed, fell from the vehicle and hit his head on the ground and died instantly.

The video also shows the black-dressed man lying lifeless on the ground with handcuff on his hand while people gathered, watching, lamenting, and making videos of him.

When contacted for confirmation, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, (SP), noted that there was no such report before him, but admitted he also saw the trending video.

According to him, "There is no such report before me but I am aware of the trending video and have escalated to the Area Commander Onitsha for investigation, especially on the allegations that our officers were involved".

Meanwhile, the Command has sued for calm and assured that it shall unmask those behind the inhuman treatment.
