Southeast Dev Commission Bill will guarantee rapid dev - Anambra NASS member

The member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Emeka Idu, said Tuesday that the South East Development Commission Bill passed recently by the National Assembly would guarantee massive infrastructural development of the South East geopolitical zone.
The Federal lawmaker who commended members of the Senate and House of Representatives for passing the bill for third reading, explained that the South East Development Commission, (SEDC), is established to manage the infrastructural development of the South East such as the construction and rehabilitation of roads, houses and other infrastructural damages in the South Eastern region.
Honourable Idu disclosed further that the commission will also be empowered to tackle the ecological problems and any other environmental or developmental challenges in the region and would also receive and manage funds from the allocation of the federation account to execute infrastructural projects in the South East.
The Federal Lawmaker, a two time member of Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed confidence that when the bill is assented to by President Bola Tinubu, it will reduce the marginalisation of the South East and help to rebuild the region badly affected by the civil war .
He assured that the people of Onitsha North and South are totally behind the commission as it will aid the smooth development of the Constituency.
