The people of Anam community, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State, weekend, lamented their abandonment by the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, when he was in the saddle as the Governor of the State.

Making the lamentation during the rememberance and funeral ceremony of Mrs Monica Nwodu Mmadubueze, the mother of Mr. Odikpo Mmadubueze, a journalist, concerned Anam chieftains stated that Obiano’s eight years in office was a waste for them inspite of their massive support for him.

Dr. Edochie Onuora, a telecommunications' expert, said, “The biggest disappointment we had in recent past is that our brother was the Governor for eight years but he did not do anything for us. It is painful but we are appealing to the Present Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who we saw has been making effort, to continue and provide roads and other basic infrastructures like power and water for our people.”

He said Anam people were united and Peace loving people, and stressed the need for the virtues to continue and be emulated by every other part in Anambra State, South East and Nigeria in general.

“If you walk around the venue of this event you will not see Police. You can’t see this happening anywhere in South East. If we have problem we have internal mechanism to address it,” he said.

The host, Mmadubueze appealed to Governor Soludo to remember Anam people since their own brother, Obiano whom they thought would give Anam clans facelift failed woefully.

“This time we are praying to Prof. Soludo to come to the rescue of Anam people by constructing key roads in the area, provide us with light and water,” said Mmadubueze.

Justifying the remembrance of the burial ceremony of his mother, Mmadubueze said every entity has its own tradition and culture even before Christians came up with their own belief.

But as Africans or even as Anam people, he said, there is what we believe in so that at a point like this we can call people to have official burial ceremony of our beloved mother.

The Deputy Governor of United Eagles of Anam, Ifeanyi Udoji in the same vein appealed to Governor Soludo to come to their aid since their own brother, Obiano failed them.

“We are suffering here in Anam, yet we are the food basket of the State. If we have roads, water and light, we will do more in providing food for the State,” he concluded.
